She whiles the time away,
Keeping me at a distance,
Leads my mind astray,
Questioning it’s existence,
Leaves my heart dismayed,
All I receive is resistance,
Yet she asks that I stay,
It’s cognitive dissonance,
I’m not a character to play,
Emotional inconsistence,
I wear a weight without her,
Burdened under its bulk,
Want her – perhaps forever,
Ashamed I hide and sulk,
Occupies my heart and mind,
Her smile and wilin’ ways,
Kept apart by a gap in time,
Yet to her will – I obey,
I keep her close as I can,
Though in my arms no more,
I see her sail strong and true,
While I remain on the shore.
